Pokemon Sword and Shield DLC Gets New Trailer and Release Date

An all-new trailer has been released for Pokemon Sword and Shield's two expansions: The Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra! Not only do we get to see some of the new areas we will be traversing, but we now know we will be able to begin our trek across the Isle of Armor on June 17th. We won't be making that trek alone though, as new Pokemon will be joining the adventure as well.

The latest trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield’s two DLC packs, the Crown Tundra and the Isle of Armor show some pretty exciting new info. Not only do we get to see the Galarian form of Slowbro (who wears his shell on his fist!), but now we finally know we can start exploring the Isle of Armor on June 17th. In this trailer, we get a much better look at Kubfu, the fighting type Pokemon who will be joining us on our journey through the Isle of Armor. Kubfu can evolve into either a water/fighting type, or a fighting/dark type, depending on which tower you defeat.

Gen 1 Pokemon are also receiving a lot of love in this upcoming expansion. Venasaur and Blastoise are shown to have two awesome new Dynamax forms! Blastoise’s shell looks to become a battleship and Venasaur’s tree becomes a canopy! The three legendary birds of Kanto, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos, will also be receiving new typing in the expansion pass. The changes in typing are stark and we expect them to be explained through the storyline. Moltres will be Dark/Flying, Articuno will be Psychic/Flying, and Zapdos will be Fighting/Flying.

We really could not be more excited for these DLC’s to add more to the already solid foundation of Pokemon. The base games were a tad lacking, and we explain that in our Pokémon Sword & Shield review. How excited are you for these two expansions?
