To specify, the evolutions of Quilava, Dartrix, and Dewott will be different from the ones featured in past games. Furthermore, it is unclear if their names will be the same. Will they simply be new forms of Typhlosion, Decidueye, and Samurott, like how there are Alolan and Galarian variants of Meowth? Or will they be new evolutions entirely – similar to how Game Freak added Sylveon to Eevee’s evolution tree in Gen 6?
The former seems more likely since the shown silhouettes don’t look radically different from the classic variants of Typhlosion, Decidueye, and Samurott. Other trailers have featured both Hisuian variants and new evolutions of classic Pokémon like Wyrdeer, and Hisuian Growlithe.
This is quite a big final reveal just days before the game comes out. The Pokémon Company is effectively using this announcement to build hype for the game. It was especially wise to only show silhouettes. Now fans will eagerly play until their Quilava, Dartrix, and Dewott evolve into their new Pokémon Legends: Arceus Hisuian starter evolutions.
