2022 is off to an exciting start, thanks to an announcement from Sony. They have just revealed details about their upcoming virtual reality set, PlayStation VR2, to be released for PS5. Although no release date has been revealed, they have shared plenty of other information, including the specs and what to expect. The announcement was made at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show.
The new PlayStation VR2, along with the new PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, is set to follow the same quality and innovation of the PS5. It will feature the latest technology, including high-fidelity visuals, new sensory features, and enhanced tracking. Setting up the VR2 couldn’t be simpler. All you need to do is connect your VR2 to your PS5 with just one cable and you’re good to go.
The VR2 promises an experience that includes high-end resolution and seamless frame rate. The headset-based tracker means you don’t need to rely on an external camera to track your movements. The Sense Technology features eye tracking, 3D audio, headset feedback, and the Sense controller for a truly immersive experience. Headset feedback is designed to make the player feel like they’re in the virtual world, the headset reacting to an racing pulse or objects rushing past. This will take players to a whole new level of immersive gameplay.
If the announcement of the PlayStation VR2 wasn’t exciting enough, there was another unveil. The first launch game was announced, Horizon Call of the Mountain, from Guerrilla and Firesprite. This game will be exclusive to the PS VR2, designed to take advantage of its incredible innovative technology. Not much about the game has been revealed yet, except the player will be assuming the role of a brand new character. Aloy, protagonist of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, is expected to make an appearance.
More details on the PS VR2 are set to be revealed later, but for now, Sony shared the official specifications for their newest virtual reality.
