PlayStation has always strived to create meaningful experiences for their fans. With unique first party experiences, State of Plays, and community events like Seize the Throne and Treat Codes, PlayStation is always looking for ways to engage their fans.

Their newest addition to the community comes in the form of PlayStation Stars. With this new program, set to release later this year, fans will be able to join for free to unlock a variety of rewards simply for playing special campaigns and activities.

Firstly, as part of their “Monthly Check-in Campaign”, fans will be able to unlock rewards just by logging on and playing once a month. PlayStation Plus members will also be able to get rewards just by making purchases in the PlayStation store. However, fans will not be able to acquire awards this easily in most cases. PlayStation adds that “other campaigns require you to win tournaments, earn specific trophies, or even be the first player to platinum a blockbuster title in your local time zone.”

Once you begin racking up PlayStation Stars rewards, you will be able to redeem them in a variety of ways. Some of these ways include PSN wallet funds and exclusive PlayStation Store products.

Lastly, in their blog post PlayStation introduced “digital collectibles”. This new reward will be a way for fans to use their points to acquire unique collectibles. Some of these include figures of popular characters and “cherished devices that tap into Sony’s history of innovation.” PlayStation clarified these will be digital representations of said items and will not be tangible products available for purchase.

PlayStation Stars is currently in testing and will release later this year. No official release date has been announced as of late.
