Some ambitious Minecrafters have spent a whole year constructing a huge recreation of Team Star Fox‘s mothership. The Great Fox in Minecraft is built to 1:3 scale and even comes complete with a huge interior. Obviously, berg_ took some creative license given that we don’t see the inside of the Great Fox too much in the Star Fox games. It is an impressive build, to say the least. Not many finish a year-long build in games like Minecraft.
The blocky Great Fox replica in Minecraft was built entirely from scratch. She is also packed with a ton of redstone wiring for the lighting system. From the bridge of the ship, you can even control her functional cannons. There are also drop bays, the homes of the Landmaster tank, and the Blue Marine sub. The creator has also snuck in a few references in the build for fans to notice as well, though he doesn’t mention any specifically.
The Great Fox has appeared in a number of Star Fox games. She first appeared in the excellent classic, Star Fox 64, which later got a 3D remake on the 3DS (Star Fox 64 3D). The formidable mothership also appeared in Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox Assault, and the somewhat lackluster Star Fox 64 remake on Wii U: Star Fox Zero. I personally still think Star Fox 64/3D is the best game in the series.
Fox McCloud, Falco Lombardi, Slippy Toad, and Peppy Hare have embarked on many a mission from the Great Fox. However, they’ve never done so in the blocky realm of Minecraft. This creation of the Great Fox within Minecraft is very cool. Also, as you’re no doubt aware, Minecraft’s Caves & Cliffs Part II update is coming out in just a few short days.
