One of the most popular sports in the world is finally getting a brand new game, HB Studios – responsible for The Golf Club franchise – are working together with 2K to produce a new golf game that is aiming to be a hole-in-one. The PGA Tour 2K21 announcement was accompanied by a brief teaser trailer indicating that we’ll get a full reveal on May 14th.

The trailer features heavy emphasis on TPC Sawgrass, particularly the world famous Par 3, 17th, and proudly displays The Player’s Championship logo on the flag. The tournament is regarded as the unofficial “5th major” in golf. The Golf Club acquired the PGA Tour license, in 2018, after EA forfeited the rights to the license. EA was synonymous with golf games and were annually releasing a Tiger Woods PGA Tour game until 2014. After controversial circumstances surrounding the famous sport star came to light, EA sought out a new cover star – the next big superstar, Rory McIlroy. They released Rory McIlroy PGA Tour in 2015, but sales and reviews were not so favorable.
In the mean time, HB Studios worked hard to create their own take on the sport with a more realistic simulation and eventually partnered up with 2K. With the news of the PGA Tour 2K21 announcement, the pair will work together, PGA Tour license and all, to hopefully create an in-depth game packed full of some of the world’s famous golfers and courses.
