Although at first leaked by ResetEra a day prior, Persona publisher, Atlus, has confirmed the Western release of Persona 5 Royal to be the 31st of March 2020.
A much-expanded version of 2017’s Persona 5, the Royal version has an abundance of new content on offer for new and returning players. In addition to its plot about a group of thieves aiming to change society by infiltrating the minds of the corrupt, Persona 5 Royal introduces an entire extra semester at the game’s school, Shujin Academy. Persona players know that alone means a lot of extra gameplay. There’s also a new area of Tokyo to explore, new upgrades, further battle and conversation animations, along with new characters, one of which joins The Phantom Thieves as part of an added story arc.
Persona 5 released in Japan in September 2016 and the West in April 2017 to major critical and financial success. As of December 2019, the game has sold 3.2 million copies worldwide. Among the many outlets giving stellar scores upon release, KeenGamer’s Persona 5 review gave the hit title a perfect 10 out of 10.
