Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 3 Goes Live, Loot Boxes to Be Removed

It's time for one last ride. With the release of the Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 3, the finale of the Remix Event Trilogy, comes some intriguing revelations. Loot Boxes are soon to be removed from in-game stores, meaning that earning them will be the only way to obtain them.

Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 3 Goes Live, Loot Boxes to Be Removed

As the Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 3 hits live servers, some interesting information is revealed. According to a recent blog post, Loot Boxes are to be pulled from the in-game store on August 30th 2022. As for the new content, the final pallet remixes of fan-favourite skins are available for purchase now. These final re-colours include Tracer, Genji, Pharah, Soldier: 76, Dva and Baptiste. As usual, a select few exclusive reward skins have returned once more.

During the month of August, players would normally celebrate the summer season with the Overwatch Summer Games Event. This year, however, the Anniversary Event has been spread over three normal events, and this one covers the usual Summer Games Event schedule, from August 9th to August 30th.

For the Overwatch Anniversary Remix Vol 3 Event, you’ll be able to earn Comic Book Tracer, Marammat Symmetra and Kyogisha Hanzo through the Weekly Challenges as well as their sprays. This could very well be players’ last chance to purchase not only Loot Boxes but in-game skins through traditional means.

If there are any cosmetics from any Overwatch Event that you’ve had your eyes on, now is the time to buy them. With Overwatch 2, the monetisation system is changing. Going Free-to-Play means that purchasing skins could be a little more expensive, using real money as opposed to earnable in-game credits, as is common for this monetisation model.

With the sequel right around the corner on October 4th, could this really be the final Overwatch 1 event? We’ll just have to wait and see what Blizzard has waiting for us around the corner.
