Blizzard just announced that they are working on further animated shorts for the critically-acclaimed game Overwatch. In addition, they will also be releasing new comics based on the franchise as well. Game Director Jeff Kaplan was excited to break the news as he said,
The animated shorts are probably the thing that we have the most fun making…We really love working with our animation group and digging out the stories not tied to any constraints of gameplay. We can tell any stories we want.
For those unaware, the animated series have been telling the stories of game characters such as the popular robot hero, Sombra, Winston, Widowmaker, Tracer, Hanjo, Genji and Soldier 76. These various animated shorts seem to have been very popular with Overwatch fans thus far. One of the main intents seems to be to expand the game's lore further and to compliment the game via these series. As for Season two, it will likely feature the character Pharah as teased previously. Blizzard did not announce a release date for the start of this new season though. Stay tuned for more developments on this.
