Overwatch 2 Beta Ends, New Hero Teased

With the Overwatch 2 beta coming to an end, and a new hero being teased, there's plenty to look forward to despite the early access closing down. From the third and final Anniversary Remix event to the possibility of a third beta access wave, here's what's in-store down the line for the first person shooter.

Overwatch 2 Beta Ends, New Hero Teased

Once again, the beta for Overwatch 2 has come to an end and the new hero Junker Queen has been put to rest. Blizzard has closed the servers and forced players back to the land of the original game. However, when a door closes, a window opens. A new hero has been teased, and it’s looking likely that we’ll be hearing much more about them very soon.

The new hero in question is linked to the light blue, holographic fox seen in the latest Overwatch 2 trailer. A coded message, recently revealed to have been “What does the fox say?” points directly to this mysterious figure. Who are they? Where do they fit into the lore of the game’s wider universe? These questions will hopefully be answered soon.

We can also expect the Anniversary Remix Volume 3 event to be around the corner. This one will replace the yearly Summer Games event. Normally, this festivity starts in late July and ends in early August, so this is no doubt on its way. As this lines up to be the final Overwatch event before the sequel’s release, it’s one you won’t want to miss out on.

As for beyond this, and when the next chance to play Overwatch 2 will arrive, there is room to speculate. Currently, the trend is to release beta access windows in-between events. Volume 1, then the first beta, Volume 2, then the second beta, so after Volume 3, could the third and final beta access become available? It would make sense for Blizzard to fill the gap in September, in which no events normally take place. Then, by October 4th, in Overwatch 2 a new hero will be upon us, and the cast will be ready to grow once more.
