Call of Duty: WWII was originally released on the 3rd of November 2017 to generally positive reviews, with praise given for the series returning to the era it handles best: World War II. But like many other entries in the Call of Duty series, it was criticized for a lack of originality. It didn’t stop it from being a game sales juggernaut though. Within three days of release, it made over $500 million in revenue. By the 20th December 2017, it had earned over $1 billion, being the biggest seller of the year.
Despite being 2 and a half years old, getting such a high profile game is definitely better than the disappointing line-up we got from last month’s PS Plus games, Cities: Skylines and Farming Simulator 19. With each annual Call of Duty game coming out within the fourth quarter of a year, WWII being a PS Plus June game might mean that PlayStation is trying to get eyes turned towards the Call of Duty franchise before announcing a brand new game for the franchise!
