Oddworld: Soulstorm enjoyed the release of a brand spanking new trailer today which shows off the remade Soulstorm Brewery. This was the setting of the original sequel, Abe’s Exodus. It will, of course, come with all the mean Sligs and Glukkons you’d expect.
Oddworld Inhabitants have been very vocal about Soulstorm not simply being a “from the ground up remaster“. Soulstorm has a lot more going on than its generations-old predecessor. Clues as to what gamers can expect this time around can be spotted in the trailer. We see Abe collecting crafting resources to assist the Mudokon uprising. Something that clearly has explosive results in the form of thrown molotovs. The addition of escapees fighting back, on top of Abe’s chanting powers, will likely spice things up considerably!
Oddworld And A Darker Vision
This time around, expect Oddworld Inhabitants to lean harder into a darker and grittier world as classic characters remain the same for all intents and purpose. Oddworld Inhabitants returned to the drawing board on character designs this time. All of this effort is, no doubt, to compliment the devs’ hard work with the Unity Engine. After all, the cutscene trailer was all about showing off real time rendering.
Oddworld: Soulstorm Gets A New Trailer. You may recognise this crusty old Glukkon in his newer and grittier design
While we’re all undoubtedly itching to liberate Soulstorm Brewery all over again, the hardworking team at Oddworld Inhabitants have yet to give an estimated release window. Although it is heartening to see mention of a ‘quintology’ in the trailer. This suggests Oddworld Inhabitants are nowhere near ready to hang their hats. Perhaps we can look forward to Munch’s Odyssey and Stranger’s Wrath in the future. In order to keep hungry fans sated of Oddworld updates, the Oddwall was recently revealed. If you’re a superfan, the Oddwall is a bit of fun as followers can select tiles to reveal new images for the game. Until Soulstorm is upon us, that will have to do.
