Since its launch ten months ago, Nintendo have sole 4.8 million Switch units in the United States. This amazing figure tops the mark of any home console in the first ten months of marketing, and beats the record set by the Nintendo Wii console, which sold over four million units, back in 2006.
In addition, Nintendo revealed that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, sold 2.64 million Switch units, and that unsurprisingly Super Mario Odyssey was the best selling game on the console selling a baffling 2.88 million units – despite only being released last October. Mario Kart 8 also performed well – selling just over 2.4 million copies.
Furthermore, the new high sales mark is not the first record to be broken by Switch, as it also set a new mark for Nintendo's fastest-selling console for its first two days on the market. Additionally, it has been reported that Nintendo have stepped up the production of the increasingly popular Switch console to keep up with high-demand and the increasing interest from developers to make games for the console.
