Nightingale was a Victorian-styled fantasy title designed by Inflexion Games, a newer developer, as this would be their first major release. Originally, the game was slated to be released this year, as it was revealed in Summer Game Fest 2022, as an Early Access title, but Nightingale has been delayed to the first half of 2023.
If you need a bit of a refresher on what the game looks like and plays, you can watch the Summer Game Fest trailer below.
The title has a reason for its delay, which will see its release in 2023, being an engine switch. In a statement posted on the game’s website, Inflexion Games explained that “After reviewing what UE5 has to offer, we decided on upgrading now rather than waiting until after release.”
For reference, Unreal 5 has been making waves in the gaming industry, being used for lots of newer games coming out. These games include titles like Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, Ark 2, and Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, just to name a few. Back to Nightingale, it was a bit unclear how much of the game’s development was completed.
Inflexion continued, “In the coming weeks, you’ll see more game and development updates from the team. Until then, we thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm for what we’re making. It may take a little longer for the mystical Fae portals to open, but we appreciate you taking this journey with us.”
At the very least, the fact that Nightingale getting delayed happened now rather than a couple of days before its official release is a bit positive. But people who were looking forward to it will have to wait until 2023, unfortunately. It wasn’t clear whether it’ll release in Q1 or Q2 2023, but we’ll update when that becomes a bit clearer.
Nightingale is now set to release in the first half of 2023.
