During the Tokyo Games Show, we saw a number of Japanese developers make some big announcements. Among them was Square Enix, who announced the NieR Replicant release date in their presentation. The game will be coming to current gen consoles on April 23, 2021 in the USA and Europe. However, if you live in Asia, the game releases a day earlier on April 22. The official name for the game is NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139. Yes, its a mouthful, but there are stranger things in the Nier universe.
The game itself is a remaster of the original NieR Replicant, which was only available in Japan on PS3. This game differed from the western release of NieR; Replicant had a younger main character. An offshoot of the Drakengaard series, the series gained a huge following through NieR Automata in 2017. The newest game is a from the ground up remake of the 2010 original, so it could be very similar to the award winning Automata.
The NieR Replicant release date announced at the Tokyo Games Show applies to PS4, Xbox One and PC releases. Currently, there is no word on the game coming to either the PS5 or Xbox Series X. Players will likely get more news going forward, as well as a closer look at the game itself. For now, you’ll have to content yourself with the trailer for the game.
