Nier Replicant Opening Cinematic Shows Upgraded Visuals

Square Enix has released the opening cutscene for the upcoming remaster of highly acclaimed RPG, NieR Replicant. Within it, players can see the work done to the graphical fidelity of the game and some new gameplay footage. This trailer briefly touches the story without spoiling too much of it so that newcomers still maintain a sense of mystery.

Nier Replicant Opening Cinematic Shows Upgraded Visuals cover

The NieR Replicant opening cinematic was released by Square Enix, showcasing the remastered title’s updated graphics that are a stark contrast to what the developers were capable of when it originally launched back in 2010.

The trailer focuses on the story and the main characters without giving away too much, thus allowing newcomers to the franchise to enjoy the experience as they play it for the first time. Grimoire Weiss, Kaine, Emil, Yonah and the rest of the group that made up the cast of Replicant all make an appearance at some point during the three-minute-long opening. The improvements made on these characters are also evident, with Kaine’s face looking a lot smoother and less edgy than in her PlayStation 3 version, as some people online were quick to notice.

There were also small bits of gameplay footage in the trailer, but nothing too major as players got a taste of that in last week’s extended trailer.

Apart from the visuals, however, the NieR Replicant opening cinematic gave fans of the series another chance to listen to the upgraded audio of the game. Both the voice acting and the soundtrack have been remastered to enhance the player’s experience for the upcoming version of the title.

NIER AUTOMATA SALES SURPASS 5.5 MILLION

Other than the NieR Replicant opening cinematic, though, there was even more exciting news for the franchise in the last week.

According to Square Enix, the game’s sequel, NieR Automata, which was released in 2017, recently celebrated its fourth anniversary by reaching a significant milestone as it has now gone beyond a total of 5.5 million in physical shipments and online sales worldwide, making it one of the most successful titles within its genre.

After this piece of information, it’s only natural that expectations for the upcoming remaster will grow greater within the company, as it will aim to reach or outperform that number in a shorter time frame.

Considering the reputation of the title within the gaming community, but also the great work that seems to have been done on it, giving it new life, there’s no reason as to why Square Enix won’t be able to attain that goal.

NieR Replicant Ver. 1.22474487139 is a remaster of the 2010 title NieR Replicant and a prequel to 2017’s Automata. It is expected to be released on 23 April 2021 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
