Capcom has announced that its next Resident Evil Showcase will take place in April. The digital event will offer “surprises” and a “fresh look at Resident Evil Village”.
Capcom’s January presentation provided lots of new Village information, including a glimpse at combat, story, and inventory. A free demo, Maiden, was released exclusively for PlayStation 5 after the event. Another separate demo for all platforms was promised, and with Village’s May 7 release date looming, it seems likely the next demo will be shown at the upcoming showcase.
Capcom offered no hints of what to expect at the Resident Evil Showcase, telling fans it doesn’t want to “spoil any surprises”. An official announcement of the long-rumoured Resident Evil 4 remake would make for a worthy ‘surprise’.
Resident Evil is 25
As part of the 25th anniversary of the original Resident Evil’s release in Japan, the company also released beta details for Resident Evil Re: Verse, when Village will launch on Stadia, and a port of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on Google’s service. This will release April 1, 2021. A Gold Edition will also be available for purchase, promising “plenty of extra content”. Reading between the lines, this seems like DLC will be included.
Resident Evil Village releases May 7, 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Stadia. PlayStation 4 purchases will be eligible for a free digital upgrade to the PlayStation 5. Xbox One purchases will support Smart Delivery to the Xbox Series X|S.
