It looks like the filming of the Uncharted movie is properly underway, as we’ve recently gotten a look at Tom Holland playing Nathan Drake. Holland, who’s set to play a younger Drake, posted the new picture on his Instagram account. Wearing the outfit from the original game, Drake’s Fortune, Holland is standing amongst wooden wreckage. Keen-eyed fans can also spot the iconic “Sic Parvus Magna” ring, an heirloom of adventurer Sir Francis Drake. Although many fans were skeptical about Holland’s casting, this traditional look may help him gain some support.
While some thought this movie was never going to happen – it’s been in some form of development since 2008 – this photo is an indication that things are moving in the right direction. With Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas and others on board, the movie certainly packs a lot of stars. However, we’ll have to wait a while to see if it lives up to the lofty expectations of series fans; the movie isn’t due to release until July 2021. While the movie takes some inspiration from the hit games, it has a lot to prove after numerous delays. Yet, we now have good reason to hope for a film that’ll bring new life to the Uncharted franchise.
