On December 7th, Nintendo released the next wave of the eagerly anticipated DLC tracks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pack. This ongoing expansion adds eight courses at a time over six waves into the end of 2023. Today’s release marks the halfway point, with 24 courses added this year alone. Wave 2 was previously released in August.
Many new fan favorites arrive in today’s DLC including Maple Treeway and Peach Gardens from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart DS respectively. These courses received a glorious HD makeover and take advantage of the game’s modern gameplay mechanics. Peach Gardens in particular now has its final lap set racers driving the course backward. More tracks from the mobile title Mario Kart Tour appear like Berlin Byways and London Loop. These sorts of tracks are now playable with proper console controls. The majestic, single-lap Rainbow Road from Mario Kart 7 also makes a welcome appearance. The new tracks are as follows:
Rock Cup
- Tour London Loop
- GBA Boo Lake
- 3DS Rock Rock Mountain
- Wii Maple Treeway
Moon Cup
- Tour Berlin Byways
- DS Peach Gardens
- Merry Mountain
- 3DS Rainbow Road
An unexpected addition is the new item customization feature which players can use in versus mode. Every item can be toggled on and off, or go all random. Keep it simple with just green shells and banana peels or go crazy with blue shells and stars.
The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is now halfway complete with an additional 24 courses arriving in 2023. The DLC is available stand-alone in the Nintendo eshop for $24.99 and as part of Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. What are your favorite tracks in this wave and what tracks are you hoping to see next year?
