Today Nintendo announced an upcoming presentation centred on the latest character coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pyra/Mythra. The live-stream, hosted by Sakurai, will run for thirty-five minutes from 6 a.m. PT/9 a.m. ET/2 p.m. GMT, on March 4. The show will offer a detailed look into the new fighter’s play-style and reveal the DLC’s release date.

Pyra/Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was unveiled during Nintendo’s Direct last week, which was the company’s first proper showcase since September 2019. What makes this particular fighter unique is the dual-swapping between both characters. However, they mark yet another sword-wielding based entry into the game, which has disappointed some fans.
The new character will mark the fourth entry in the second Fighters Pass, following the incredible Sephiroth reveal at The Game Awards last December. The pass also currently contains Steve from Minecraft and Min Min from Arms, with two fighters left to round-off the DLC.
Replying to its own tweet, Nintendo made it clear the presentation will focus on Pyra/Mythra being in Smash Bros. Ultimate only, stating “there will be no further new fighter announcements”. The Smash team is most likely saving the next big reveal for a future Direct or another event. Sakurai has previously stated the second DLC pack will be the game’s last, which has only heightened expectations for its contents.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the definitive version of the long-running series, available exclusively on the Switch.
