Video game publisher, THQ Nordic, has just announced a new video game for the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise. Developed by Purple Lamp, the 3D-platformer game, called The Cosmic Shake, will be released on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. The release date is yet to be announced.
The general plot is that SpongeBob and his best friend Patrick Star have been given wish-granting Mermaid’s Tears by mysterious fortune teller Kassandra. Soon, the fate of the universe is in their hands, as things become very chaotic. With portals opening, SpongeBob and Patrick must rescue their friends from strange Wishworlds.
As SpongeBob, you’ll travel through portals to 7 different Wishworlds, such as Wild West Jellyfish Fields and Halloween Rock Bottom. You’ll also be able to change your protagonist sponge’s appearance with more than 30 different skins (or costumes). He can even turn into a snail! The game will feature both classic and new platforming moves, such as the Karate Kick and the Fishhook Swing.
The absorbent, yellow, and porous hero won’t be alone in his adventure. By his side will be his trusty companion, Patrick, who has turned into a balloon. You’ll also get to meet all your favorite characters from the show, such as Mr. Krabs, Sandy Cheeks, Squidward, and more, all of them voiced by their original voice actors.
Let’s not forget the soundtrack. The Cosmic Shake will include 101 songs from the SpongeBob SquarePants series, including the legendary “Sweet Victory”. Also, the impressive up-to-date 3D graphics will bring SpongeBob and his world to life.
This isn’t the first video game in the SpongeBob SquarePants series. Last year, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottle – Rehydrated was released on multiple platforms, as well as SpongeBob: Krusty Cook-Off and SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit. The Cosmic Shake is the latest in a huge line-up of SpongeBob video games, and from what we can see, it shouldn’t disappoint.
