New Leak Suggests Borderlands: GOTY Edition Releasing Soon

It appears that Gearbox Software might have plans to bring over the original shoot-and-loot title over to current gen consoles. Does a Borderlands Game of the Year Edition signal something greater to be announced in the near future? Or, could this just be a quick cash-grab by appeasing Borderlands aficionados?

New Leak Suggests Borderlands: GOTY Edition Releasing Soon
After Gearbox Software released the Handsome Jack Collection featuring Borderlands 2 and the follow-up 'Pre-Sequel', many fans were left wondering why the original was never included in the package. Sure, the twisted, and often satirical villain wasn't introduced until the sequel, but why not include all three in a trilogy package and call it something else?

Well, a recent leak on Reddit from the PSN user, DeftonesBand, has revealed a trophy/achievement list of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition. It's interesting to see this leak at such an awkward time, as no mention of anything Borderlands related has (still) yet to be announced from developers Gearbox.

If true, it's safe to assume the current gen release of the debut shoot-and-loot first-person shooter RPG from 2009 will be arriving on both the PS4 and Xbox One. What many of us want to know is if the release will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch, offering the chance to play through this gem on a handheld console for the first time.

While this is merely a rumored leak with no confirmation to back it up, it's not the most far-fetched rumor. The original Borderlands has been on many fans wishlist, but not as much as the vaguely announced Borderlands 3. Which brings up another interesting note: Could Gearbox be waiting to reveal this release to line up with more details on the highly anticipated Borderlands 3?

For now, all of this should be taken with a pinch of salt as nothing official has been revealed. We'll be sure to keep you updated with any more interesting details regarding the potential Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition arriving on current gen consoles.
