In a press release, Devolver stated that we won’t be seeing a simple port. In fact, this is an entirely brand new game. One major change is completely redesigned characters, with everything redrawn in a cute, “chibi” art style. Based on the announcement trailer, it seems as though Ripe for Revenge features even faster gameplay than the first game, as well as the return of traversal items such as a motorcycle and a skateboard.
With 37 levels to fight through and an as-yet-unknown “Blood Rush Mode”, it seems as though the dev team has a full package awaiting players. Deadtoast last stepped into the mobile space in 2014 with Triangle Face Run Race and PQONG, which have both been delisted from the Google Play Store. Publisher Devolver Digital has considerable experience with mobile, and is undoubtedly steering the ship for this release.
Pre-registration for My Friend Pedro: Ripe for Revenge is now open. The full game is expected to be released for Android and iOS devices on August 5th, 2021.
