Nintendo's executive Reggie Fils-Aime recently stated that more revamped WiiU titles are heading to the Nintendo Switch console. After the successful release and reception of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and recent announcement of Pokken Tournament DX, the trend is now confirmed to be going to continue. These ports were announced to include all previously released DLC in addition to new content. Reggie had the following to say regarding their future plans,
Given the install base of WiiU, there was some fantastic content that consumers did not get to play…So that creates certainly a business opportunity. On the other hand, one of the things that we've discussed internally is, there really needs to be an additional element to that game to make it fresh, and to further compel the consumer to buy in.
So there you have it. Expect a legion of WiiU first party definitive versions going to the Switch. Perhaps the rumored Super Smash Bros. WiiU will be part of the next wave of ports. Let us hope, however, that this effort does not stall the influx of much needed newer generation exclusive titles.
