According to a post on Titanfall’s subreddit the upcoming game will have some interesting new features including new pilot abilities, bigger maps and a grappling hook.
The information was leaked by the subreddit's moderator, ilovegoogleglass, who cites someone "in the know" as their source, but the post has now been removed. The leak stated that the game is set to release in October.
The leak also says developer Respawn Entertainment has introduced "a ton of new pilot abilities including the addition of a grappling hook." We haven’t seen much of the game so far apart from an interesting trailer that revealed mechs with swords. The grappling hook can reportedly be used for climbing into Titans from a distance, pulling enemies out of the air, and to extending free-running.
It was also stated that maps will be larger to accommodate a larger player count during multiplayer modes. There was also a separate leak from a Facebook fan page that said there will be a promotional tie-in with Mountain Dew.
With the end of the year being the biggest time for new games there are plenty of shooters including this, Call of Duty and the new Battlefield 1 game. EA has said it doesn't believe launching Titanfall 2 and Battlefield 1 in the same period isn't a bad idea.
"We feel we have a really strong position to deliver the broader set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to the first-person shooter genre across two titles," said CEO Andrew Wilson. "I feel very confident that we are well positioned to do very well in that category in the year."
The first Titanfall was fairly well received due to its unique gameplay but suffered from lack of content. Unlike the first game, Titanfall 2 will have a single player campaign and will be released on PS4 in addition to Xbox One and PC this time around. More information and details will be revealed at this year’s E3 event in June.
