Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Reportedly Sold Over 3 Million Units in April

According to SuperData, Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has sold 3.4 million units in April and cracked the top 10 for the month in sales on consoles. Keep in mind, Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered was a one-month PS4 exclusive and the game did not release on the Xbox One until April 30th.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Sold

Despite not including multiplayer or spec-ops, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has been quite a success so far. A SuperData report claims that the Call of Duty game sold 3.4 million units in April.

Along with this, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered cracked the top 10 in worldwide sales on consoles for April and it sold 622K units in March. Considering the game’s staggered release schedule, these are pretty impressive numbers. Modern Warfare 2 Remastered released on March 31st for PlayStation 4 players. It remained a timed-exclusive for the console until April 30th. Since then, the game has been made available for Xbox One and PC users for $19.99. Considering that, it’s safe to say sales will continue to skyrocket into May.

What might be more impressive, however, is how well the video game industry is doing during the current global pandemic. In the same SuperData report, it was said that people have spent a “record-breaking” $10.5 billion on video games in April 2020.

Nevertheless, this report seems to indicate that Activision may have made the right decision in releasing a campaign-only remaster of a classic game. Due to it not including multiplayer, the remaster is cheaper and it doesn’t hurt the player base of Modern Warfare (2019). That being said, recent leaks have pointed towards multiplayer possibly being added to Modern Warfare 2 Remastered in the future. We’ll just have to wait and see if Activision ever plans to add more content onto their already successful remaster.

Modern Warfare 2 Remastered is available now for Xbox One, PC, and PS4.
