Microsoft To Acquire Activision Blizzard

Microsoft has announced that they have agreed to acquire Activision Blizzard. Yet again, Xbox is expanding its team and taking another company under its wing. With talks of Game Pass additions, and the likelihood of exclusivity, what could this mean for the future of gaming?

Microsoft To Acquire Activision Blizzard

In a sudden turn of events, Microsoft has announced that it is to acquire Activision Blizzard. The company behind huge titles such as World of Warcraft, OverwatchCall Of Duty and so much more is soon to join the Xbox family. Only last year did Bethesda unify with Xbox, announcing new titles such as Starfield and confirming legendary ones such as the future of The Elder Scrolls as Xbox exclusives.

This announcement was made via Xbox Wire on Twitter.

This is incredibly big news for Xbox and Activision Blizzard especially considering that last year was a dreadful year for Blizzard. From the revelations regarding the mistreatment of its female workers to the information about the company’s awful management. Needless to say, it wasn’t looking very good at all. Amidst this, they had to then announce delays of their long-awaited sequels such as Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV

Microsoft taking Blizzard into its arms is no doubt going to be brilliant for their future together. Microsoft emphasised that they believe in treating everyone equally and respectfully to create the best content possible. Inclusion is another subject that they also wanted to highlight, believing it to be important to them, for both its players and employees.

As of yet, no announcements have been made regarding exclusivity. It’s hard to say whether or not titles such as Overwatch 2 will become Xbox exclusives in the near future. After what happened with The Elder Scrolls VI, however, it is a possibility. Once again, Xbox is making deals that strengthen its team enormously. With Cloud Gaming, Game Pass, Play Anywhere and so much more, the deal really is sweetening by the day.

What do you think of the announcement? Are you looking forward to a future where Microsoft and Activision Blizzard work together?
