Microsoft Had More Exclusives But Didn’t Want To Show Them

Phil states that showing games not ready to release very soon is no longer a good strategy for them. In the mean time, 2017 still features Xbox One exclusives Forza Motorport 7, Crackdown 3 and Cuphead. With just AAA exclusives Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 delayed to 2018, we will have to wait to see what else Microsoft has for the Xbox One.

Microsoft Had More Exclusives But Didn't Want To Show Them
After a lackluster E3 2017 showing, according to many, from Microsoft, many are wondering what other AAA exclusives they currently have in development. Phil Spencer shed some light into this on a recent interview with VICE's Waypoint. It appears that Phil Spencer had additional exclusives he could have shown but decided not to because they might not release until 2-3 years later. This stance is similar to that taken by Sony regarding their game reveals, although the later has far more exclusives releasing each year. In any case, be sure to check out the interview in full just below.

Normally, this is the right strategy. But Microsoft had to go all in.

Even a far-off game possibly not coming till 2019 would have made people really consider getting the new X machine, if only to be experiencing the best version of multiplatform games while waiting.

Exactly, that is why Spencer should not have said this. It makes it all that more disappointing. This wasn’t a normal year and they were supposed to convince gamers to invest on an Xbox One X. The more exclusives shown, even if just trailers, the better.
