According to Jeff Grubb of Venturebeat, Microsoft is set to host another briefing next month after May’s disappointing Inside Xbox. We know that Microsoft has a big event planned for July to display its first-party titles (including Halo: Infinite). So it’s unlikely we’ll see many games showcased for the Xbox Series X in June.
Grubb said that the June event will indeed focus on the Xbox Series X itself and how it runs. Microsoft’s rumored Lockhart console was also mentioned in the report as a possible topic of discussion. Lockhart (or Xbox Series S) is rumored to function as a lower-end but a more affordable version of the Xbox Series X. However, Grubb was quick to say that he could not confirm Lockhart would be revealed at the event or if the console even existed.
So, when exactly could we expect to see this showcase? Apparently, Microsoft is planning for a June 9th or June 10th date for their closer look at the Xbox Series X.
Other notable news from the Venturebeat report includes Sony planning a PlayStation 5 showcase for early June, Nintendo opting to forgo its Nintendo Direct briefings in favor of surprise reveal trailers, and that Riot Games is planning some type of event for later in the Summer. And as always, be sure to take this news with a grain of salt until we get something official from Microsoft or any of the other publishers mentioned above.
What are you hoping to see from Microsoft this Summer? Do you want to get a closer look at the Series X? Or would you rather the platform focus on the games first? Let us know in the comments.
