The Monster Hunter news just won’t stop coming. It’s been a busy season of monster-hunting information, with two brand-new trailers having debuted at Gamescom 2019. Meawhile, Capcom’s Japanese YouTube channel has been busily posting reveal and overview trailers of the many monsters that will appear in the expansion. Since these trailers haven’t been posted on any of Capcom’s western channels, they’ve been somewhat obscure for players outside of Japan. That’s why we’ve rounded up all of them below for your hunting pleasure. Read on for overviews of Barioth, Glavenus, Tigrex, and Nargacuga.
The most recently-posted trailer focuses on Barioth, a tusked wyvern. This creature made its first appearance in Monster Hunter 3 back in 2009, and will be even more menacing than ever in Iceborne. It attacks using its icy breath, long spiked tail, and threatening agility. You can see it in all of its threatening glory in the trailer below.
Next is the Glavenus, a brutish wyvern with a huge tail that it wields like a blade. With every single strike, its body grows hotter and more dangerous. Naturally, it can also breathe fire, making it a formidable foe indeed. There is also an acidic version of this creature, which was revealed in a previously-released trailer. Find an overview of this fiery Glavenus in the trailer below.
The Tigrex is a T-Rex-style creature that debuted in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 on the PSP in 2007. With massive wings and strong forelegs, it has a devastating charge attack and a menacing, overpowering roar. It can also take hunters down from a distance thanks to its ranged projectile and lunge attacks. This vicious beast can be seen in the trailer below.
Last but certainly not least, we have the Nargacuga. First appearing in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite in 2008, this bat-like wyvern features a sleek coat of black fur. It’s certainly a formidable opponent thanks to its incredible speed and vicious attacks. It’s safe to say that if you don’t like bats, you certainly won’t like Narcacuga. See this unsettling creature in action below.
There’s only a few weeks left before Monster Hunter World: Iceborne releases. This expansion will bring all these new monsters along with a host of gameplay enhancements when it releases for PS4 and Xbox One on September 6 worldwide. A PC release will follow a few months later in January 2020.
