Announced back in April 2018, Eternals is a long time coming for MCU fans. The movie is based on the Marvel Comic’s race Eternals, which are celestial beings that were created by higher-power entities to defend Earth.
In this film, after being away for many years, the Eternals re-unite and join their efforts to save Earth from the Deviants. The Deviants are the Eternal’s evil counterparts and were created by the same entities that originated the Eternals.
Marvel’s Eternals teaser trailer also includes a quick look at the full cast in their respective character’s costumes, with names like Gemma Chan, Kit Harrington, and Brian Tyree Henry completing the movie’s main set of protagonists.
Directed by Oscar award-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, most known for her work in Nomadland, the film is currently in post-production.
One other interesting fact is that Eternals will include the MCU’s first depiction of an LGBTQ hero. Marvel’s president and main producer, Kevin Feige didn’t reveal who the character was, but he teased the following:
He’s married, he’s got a family. And that is just part of who he is.
