Mario Kart Online Tournament Announced for Next Weekend

Right out of the gate for the new year, Nintendo has given its fans a fun way to potentially earn a little credit. Announced just earlier today, the Nintendo of America Twitter account tweeted details of a Mario Kart Online Tournament AKA North American Online Open for the weekend of January 17th.

The account also provided additional details for players to peruse at their leisure. To nutshell it, the tournament will take place on each day between Friday, January 17th and Sunday, January 19th. Players will participate in a maximum of 24 races, with their in-game cumulative totals from each race’s results applying to their overall position in the tournament. Each day’s scheduled timeframe to participate is 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST. The top 8 participants for each day will win 2500 Nintendo Gold Points to use for in-store purchases and accessories.

For those feeling extra confident in their abilities, Nintendo has stated that one cannot win the prize on multiple tournament days. As such, one is only able to win a total of 2500 Nintendo Gold Points, as opposed to 5000 or 7500. The winners of each day will be notified via email “on or about” January 24th.
