Ripped straight from the arcade scene, fresh indie title Button City will release on most major consoles in Q3 2021. Originally slated for a Steam-only debut, it was announced during yesterday’s Wholesome Direct that the low poly adventure will be more accessible than ever.

Button City stars Fennel, a shy fox who’s moved into a new town. After finding an arcade in town and meeting like-minded friends, they find themselves embroiled in controversy when greedy cat Peppermint Pepperbottom threatens to shut it down. Partake in a number of arcade-inspired mini-games and interact with cute characters throughout the whole ordeal.

Developed by studio Subliminal, the game will be their sophomore work, after developing Sky Pets for mobile devices in 2015. Founded in 2012 out of Albuquerque, New Mexico by married couple Shandiin Yazzie Woodward and Ryan Woodward, the intention was to grow the games industry in their home state. The team has been working on Button City since 2017. Subliminal also teamed up with Wings Interactive in March of this year.

The upcoming title will release on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X. You can wishlist it on Steam as well as try out a free demo.
