League of Legends: Riot Announces Star Guardian Event

Riot Games have announced a new Star Guardian event for League of Legends. With Star Guardian skins teased for Kai'Sa, Sona, Fiddlesticks and Ekko, Riot are looking to make this year's Star Guardian event its most unpredictable. Riot are going even cooler for the summer, with a new champion, Nilah, announced shortly after Bel'Veth debuted in-store.

League of Legends: Riot Announces Star Guardian Event

While Riot let the void devour the League of Legends universe with patch 12.11 and the arrival of Bel’Veth, a Star Guardian event is coming to save the day. The ever-popular Star Guardian universe made its debut in 2015. With new Star Guardians such as Fiddlesticks and Sona revealed by Riot, additional rumours have been circulating too. Leaks hinting at Star Guardian Caitlyn and Akali have been circulating too.

The Star Guardian event will begin on July 14, 2022. Much like the High Noon event, the Star Guardian event will likely allow players to purchase an event pass. Conversely, Riot debuted the Ocean Song skin lineup in patch 12.11, but an event pass wasn’t issued with it. So far, Riot has confirmed Kai’Sa, Sona, Ekko and Fiddlesticks will be joining the Star Guardian universe. Riot are giving Ekko a prestige Star Guardian skin for the event.

The first Star Guardian series debuted in May 2015. The first lineup of champions to transform into Star Guardians was Lux. Lux only had the poorly received Commando, Steel Legion and Imperial skins, along with the dated Spelltheif and Sorceress skins, before her Star Guardian transformation. Her hot pink attire portrayed the support / mid-laner in a new light, swapping out the metallic and amour heavy commando look for a feminine, brightly coloured Sailor Moon ode.

RIOT CONFIRM SONA, KAI’SA, FIDDLESTICKS AND EKKO ARE JOINING LEAGUE OF LEGENDS’ STAR GUARDIAN EVENT

Ahri, Ezreal, Miss Fortune, Soraka, Janna, Poppy, Lulu, Jinx and Syndra joined Lux for the popular skins series later on. Additionally, Neeko received a Star Guardian skin and Urgot nabbed a Star Guardian cosplay-themed skin, both available in-store now. Rakan, Zayah and Zoe headline the corrupted Star Guardian squad and with the Nightmarish Fiddlesticks due to make his Star Guardian debut, perhaps Riot is shifting the overall aesthetic of the Star Guardians.

While Bel’Veth’s menacing presence in the LOL universe has been stirring things up, Riot has been quick to announce their next new Champion. Riot have been testing LOL’s newest champion Nilah, on their social media. Conversely, Riot have issued little information about Nilah.
