The newest League of Legends champion called Gwen: The Hallowed Seamstress, is the AP brawler who was “tailor-made for the top lane.” Many fans had assumed the champion would be Isolde at the time of the tease two months ago, and some have made their disappointment vocal, such as the subreddit /r/Isoldemains.
Seemingly brought to life by a fragment of Isolde’s soul after Gwen was tossed in the ocean, Gwen marks the third champion with direct ties to Isolde’s soul; Yorick possibly has parts of Isolde in the maiden, Senna had Isolde’s soul within her before Viego snatched it out, and a piece of Isolde’s soul brought Gwen to life.
Wielding a giant pair of scissors and looking noticeably smaller than other champs, Gwen’s trailer shows her with a multitude of attacks and options, ranging from throwing barrages of needles, snipping relentlessly at her opponents, and being able to empower herself and gain movement speed and ignore CC.
Gwen had both her champion teaser and gameplay reveal released within an hour of each other after YouTuber RedMercy leaked her gameplay trailer before its intended release.
It will be some time before her actual abilities breakdown will be released; however, reactions to her kit and design have been generally positive, with many liking the doll aesthetic and uniqueness of her kit. On the other hand, some have voiced disappointment about Gwen looking less dollike and more human, with many wanting her to look more like the now-abandoned “Sewn Chaos” skin line instead of an anime girl.

Gwen will be the first of the next three champions, which all have ties to the Ruined King; the next two will be a “gloomy artillery mage” and a non-traditional ADC.
