The spectators are no longer the cardboard cut-outs we have come to expect from sports games, and instead look alive and move dynamically. The basketball court, hoop and basketball are all so detailed that it is obvious we are closer than ever to photo-realism in gaming. The most striking visual improvements can be seen with the players. Every hair strand, muscle twitch and bead of sweat can be seen.
A screenshot from the trailer demonstrates how impressive NBA2K21’s graphics are on next-gen consoles.
On their official website, the publishers of NBA 2K have stated that “the next-gen version of NBA 2K21 is built from the ground up for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X”. The game’s narrative focuses on a boy named Junior who “faces the challenges of trying to make it to the NBA”. Fans of the WNBA will be happy to note that NBA 2K21 also sees the return of the WNBA, complete with all 12 teams in the league.
The next-gen version of NBA 2K21 launches on the 10th of November for the Xbox Series X/S and the 12th of November for the PS5. In addition to the Standard Edition, a Mamba Forever Edition will also be available which features the late Kobe Bryant on the cover. If the latest NBA 2K21 trailer is anything to go by, next-gen gaming is sure to be a visual spectacle.
