Kirby and the Forgotten Land Smashes All-Time Sales Record

Kirby and the Forgotten Land has surpassed a whopping 5.27 million copies sold all over the globe. This makes it the best-selling game in the franchise next to the classic, Kirby's Dream Land, which sold about 5.13 million copies in its heyday.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land has just surpassed 5.27 million sales worldwide establishing it as the best selling Kirby game of all time. With 5.27 million games sold, this puts the game just a few thousand copies above Kirby’s Dreamland. 

Releasing in April of 1992, Kirby’s Dreamland would go on to sell 5.13 million copies and would hold place the franchise’s best-selling game for 30 years. The two games couldn’t be more different, however.

The 1992 release was our first game with the now-iconic pink puff ball. But back then he wasn’t pink at all–he was just a gray ball. Kirby’s Dream Land released for the Gameboy Color and the only colorful thing about it at the time was the box art. This game even predated him having any special abilities at all.

In March of 2022, Nintendo and HAL Laboratory released their newest installment in the franchise–Kirby and the Forgotten Land. The differences between the original and new game couldn’t be more stark.

The player takes Kirby on a journey through a diverse assortment of maps in order to save waddle dees and rebuild their village after its destruction. Currently sitting at an 85 on Metacritic, the game was very well received overall. The world features a pallet of vibrant colors, 3D traversal, dynamic maps. fresh copy abilities, and more. 

With the game’s unique blend of old and new set in this vibrant 3D world, it’s no surprise it has taken the top spot as the most-sold Kirby game to date. 

Players can enjoy Kirby and the Forgotten Land now on Nintendo Switch.
