Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will always be one of my personal favourite RPGs. With its whirlwind of magic, open-world of wonders, and fantasy-fuelled fun, it seemed like the perfect game for fantasy lovers. But for some reason, it didn’t quite make the mark that it had intended. Coupled with the fact the company that produced it, 38 Studios, was closed down shortly after the game’s release, things weren’t looking good. Luckily, we now have some fantastic news: thanks to THQ Nordic, Kingdoms of Amalur will be getting another opportunity to shine in an upcoming remastered version.
Back in 2018, THQ Nordic (known for popular titles such as Darksiders and Destroy All Humans!) bought the rights to the Amalur franchise, giving hope to the fans that something more may be made of it in time. The remastered version- named Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning– will include better graphics, enhanced gameplay, and other improvements. More information is set to be released in the coming weeks.
Rumours circulated recently online after a listing for Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning was spotted on the Microsoft Store, leading to many people wondering whether this hidden gem was to be be re-released. On Thursday, THQ Nordic confirmed that a remaster was on the way in a tweet on their Twitter account:
Resurrected through the Well of Souls, the hit RPG returns!

The remastered version is expected to arrive in August. If the remaster proves to be popular, there may be hope of a Kingdoms of Amalur 2 in the future.
Sites like Amazon currently have Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning listed as being released on 18 August 2020, and will be available on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. The original is available on PC (Steam), Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
