The highly anticipated RPG, Hogwarts Legacy from Warner Bros. Games studio Avalanche Software has been delayed to 2022. First revealed at a PlayStation 5 event in September last year, the Harry Potter title was originally due out later this year, however, plans have now changed. Delays are now the norm within the gaming industry, with developers having more restrictions working from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, posted by the Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account, they explain that Avalanche needs more time:
We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label. Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs
Prior to its official announcement last year, this Harry Potter spin-off RPG was leaked online in 2018 which was rubber-stamped by many industry insiders.
The Reveal trailer showcased the third-person gameplay, alongside some cinematics that we can expect in the Wizarding World.
Developer Avalanche Software (not to be confused with Avalanche Studio who develop the Just Cause series), are best known for leading the Disney Infinity franchise.
