Hitman Trilogy Announced, Releases January 20th

The Hitman Trilogy has been announced, bundling Hitman 1, 2, and 3 of the World of Assassination series. The trilogy will be available from January 20th, the same day that Year 2 of Hitman 3 commences, bringing several significant updates to the game.

Hitman 3 is the third game in the Hitman: World of Assassination series, after Hitman 1 and Hitman 2. On January 20th, when Year 2 begins, the official trilogy bundle will be available to purchase. Hitman Trilogy will be releasing on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and Epic Games Store. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Ultimate. The trilogy will only be available in digital format. The World of Assassination trilogy is not to be confused with the other Hitman Trilogy, which came out in 2007.

Also coming out on January 20th is Hitman VR on PC. Virtual-reality gameplay will be available for all three World of Assassination games. 

There’s not just the trilogy collection and VR support. Year 2 begins from 20th of January in Hitman 3. There will be new gameplay, as well as improvements to technology.

Year 2 introduces the new game mode, Elusive Target Arcade, which updates the original Elusive Target. The new mode will bring new challenges, as well as rewards.

Some Year 2 features won’t be available straight away. Some of these will arrive later in the year. One of these includes Ray Tracing, which will come to the PC edition of Hitman 3. It will also be available for all World of Assassination trilogy locations. Ray Tracing affects reflections and shadows in the game, improving them. Also being implemented will be VRS (Variable Rate Shading), which boosts PC performance.

A new single-player mode, Freelancer, is coming to Hitman 3. This incorporates roguelike elements and strategic planning. There will also be a safehouse that can be customized. More customization options are unlocked by playing through Freelancer mode. You’ll also be able to change your outfit and practice with weapons at the firing range. From the safehouse, you can choose Freelancer missions. You’ll return to the safehouse after every mission to restock and resupply, as well as plan your next mission. Missions have been adapted for Freelancer mode. There will be new NPCs, including weapon suppliers. Freelancer missions also include safes, hidden stashes, and NPC assassins. Freelancer mode will come to Hitman 3 in the spring, with more details to be released nearer the time.
