Update: Arc System Works has extended the open beta test for Guilty Gear Strive due to server issues that occurred from February 17th to February 19th. The new closing time for the open beta is currently February 23rd at 6:59 a.m. PT.
Guilty Gear Strive is releasing relatively soon on April 9th, 2021 and with the open beta times, you can play soon. With that in mind, Arc System Works is looking to test the latest iteration of the online netcode via this playable test. The scheduled times that players can access was revealed through a news post on the website.
If you preordered any of the digital versions of Guilty Gear Strive on PS4 or PS5 you can access the beta as early as February 17th at 7 p.m. PT. Alternatively, if you didn’t preorder the game digitally you can download the open beta on February 18th at 7 p.m. PT through the PlayStation Store on PS4 or PS5. Lastly, the open beta test set to close on February 21st at 6:59 a.m. PT.
Unlike the closed beta back in April of 2020, this new open test will utilize rollback netcode for better quality matches. This will allow players to fight against an even wider pool of opponents with less to worry about in terms of connectivity. In theory, this means that North American players can finally battle it out against those from Europe or Asia without the game feeling too different from the offline play.
Hopefully with the release of Guilty Gear Strive comes a new age for the fighting game genre where in-person events are no longer the only way to seek viable competition and practice. The implementation of how it is being rolled out ends up in more fighting games is always going to be a good thing.
Now you know the open beta times for Guilty Gear Strive, will you try it out? Let us know in the comments.
