Microsoft had their own little show in Mexico City recently and bought a ton of big announcements along with it. So here's a round-up of all the news coming out of XO18.
PUBG is joining the game pass
Microsoft promised to reveal 16 new games that would join their Xbox Game Pass program and to kick it off they revealed PUBG will join the program. The game that kicked off the Battle Royale phenomenon will join the program on November 12th.
Alongside PUBG. Microsoft also announced games such as Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, Ori and the Blind Forest, and a brand new game titled Void Bastards would join the game pass program among many other games.
Crackdown 3's Release date plus pvp mode revealed
The long-developed sequel finally has a release date, February 15th 2019. Despite all it's delays, I still hold hope for Crackdown 3. The destruction tech looks crazy and I have a soft spot for the original games back on the 360. So I'm still open to the super-powered destruction when it releases next year.
Alongside the release date, they also revealed "Wrecking Crew." A competitive PVP mode featuring 5v5 teams and a completely destructible map. Like all other first-party Xbox games, Crackdown 3 will be available for free to game pass subscribers from day one.
Sea of Thieves is getting an arena mode
Not too much detail was given, but Rare announced a more competitive, PVP focused mode was coming to their pirate co-op adventure, Sea of Thieves. From the sounds of it, the mode would feature teams fighting to gather the most treasure, with the new mode arriving sometime in early 2019.
State of Decay 2: Zedhunter DLC
Open world zombie survival game, State of Decay 2 is getting new DLC called "Zedhunter." It will include new weapons including Crossbows and more silent melee weapons. They also hinted that future content updates could include a return to Turnball County, the location from the first State of Decay.
Microsoft has acquired Obsidian and inxile
Following last month's rumors, Microsoft confirmed that Obsidian Entertainment and Inxile Entertainment will join the Microsoft Studios family. Obsidian is known for RPGs such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity. Inxile are also big RPG developers, as the creators behind games such as Wasteland 2 and it's upcoming sequel.
Other news included new Kingdom Hearts 3 and Just Cause 4 trailers, Several Final Fantasy games joining backward compatibility, as well as Final Fantasy, remasters coming to Xbox One. Support for mouse and keyboards with certain Xbox games, Devil May Cry V's practice mode and new Shadow of the Tomb Raider DLC.
Microsoft also announced that Forza Horizon 4's first expansion will launch before the end of the year and most importantly, Cats and Pandas are coming to Minecraft. If you've got a couple of hours free you can watch the full show below.
