The Medium was revealed during the Inside Xbox showcase today. Additionally, it was revealed that famed Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka is working on the soundtrack for the title.

After the reveal trailer, Jacek Zieba, The Medium’s Game Producer, did a short interview where he revealed extra details for the game. He explained that players will be playing as Marianne, a medium, that is able to move between the real world and the spirit world. In the spirit world, players are able to find secrets, anger, and urges of humans from the real world.

Zieba also commented on having Yamaoka working alongside the Bloober team. He commented saying that Akira will be working with Bloober’s in-house composer, Arkadiusz Reikowski to create a ‘dual’ soundtrack. He tells how Silent Hill 2 is a major influence for the team and they’re hoping to harness the “heavy, disturbing, oppressive” atmosphere that Yamaoka is known for.

Bloober is the team behind Layers of Fear 1 and 2, Blair Witch, and Observer. We reviewed Layers of Fear 2 and gave it a 9/10, proclaiming, “They have perfected the art of player engagement and well placed scares.”

For fans of the horror genre, Scorn was another devilish title shown off during the Inside Xbox showcase.

The Medium Official Reveal with Gameplay

The Medium will be available on Xbox Series X and PC upon its release, at a date to be determined. Additionally, the game will be launching onto Xbox Game Pass on day one.
