Ghostbusters: Afterlife Trailer Reveals Original Cast Cameo

Ghostbusters: Afterlife's second trailer reveals a brief cameo from the original Ghostbusters' cast, and gives a closer look at the ghosts that need busting. We can expect a new type of Ghostbuster in a more family oriented film than any other in the franchise.

Ghostbusters Afterlife Second Trailer Reveals Original Cast Cameo Cover

The second, and much more detailed, trailer for Ghostbusters: Afterlife was released on July 27th by Sony Pictures. It offers a much closer look at what we can expect to see when the movie releases exclusively in theaters on November 11th. There is even a quick reveal of an anticipated cameo from the original cast, although his face is left out of frame.

It isn’t exactly a secret that the film would feature cameos from the original films, considering Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, and Ernie Hudson are listed under top cast on Ghostbusters: Afterlife‘s IMDB page. Dan Akroyd is also listed as part of the three-person writing team along with Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman, who also directed the film. There is much more to this second trailer than a cameo sneak peek.

What to Expect – More Than a Cameo

The first trailer, released in December of 2019, showed many of the same sequences as the new trailer, but in much less detail. We are offered a better look at what we can expect from the film as far as special effects goes. The town of Summerville seems to be completely full of paranormal surprises to occupy the young cast.

The goal of this film appears equally focused on satisfying old fans as well as attracting a newer fanbase. Many altered versions of the ghosts from the original movie have made Summerville their home. This may be a consequence of a ghostbuster from the original cast moving to the town. It’s not just a nostalgia trip though. New and exciting ghosts and monsters are heavily teased throughout the trailer.

Extra Content

Sony Pictures also added many features to explore on the official Ghostbusters website. There you can find extra content such as a browser game and phone apps. You can also check out images and clips including an interview with the director. Sony Pictures is clearly building this franchise to be something more than its original creation. The original cast cameos will be fun, but it’s time for a new generation of Ghostbusters.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be out exclusively in theaters on November 11th.
