With less than two weeks till 2017, we decided to look back on the great gaming year we have just experienced to find the best games of the year. After receiving votes from 26 of our KeenGamer editors, we are ready to announce our Game of the Year.
So without further delay, here are the Games (counting down to the one and only Game of the Year):
5) Pokemon sun and moon
Nintendo have always published great first party titles from Mario to Zelda to Pokemon. In November, Nintendo published two more great titles developed by Game Freak. The due going under the name 'Pokemon Sun and Moon' are the newest editions to the Pokemon game series on 3DS.
In the game, you take control of a young Pokemon trainer as you capture and train Pokemon in a mission to take down the criminal organisation Team Skull while also challenging other Pokemon trainers. The games play like other Pokemon games but with updated mechanics, a new story and new Pokemon.
4) Uncharted 4
*Takes a sip of coffee* The Uncharted series, one of the biggest incentives to buy a Sony Console. Developed by Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4 takes Sony's signature franchise to a whole new level with interesting new characters, massive set pieces and an immersive story.
In the game, you play as Nathan Drake as you work with his brother and his mentor to track down an ancient pirate treasure. The game plays like previous entries in the series but with updated gameplay, and improved graphics. Uncharted 4 is a great sign off to a series that I have played since the release of Drakes Fortune.
3) Doom
Published by Bethesda and developed by id Software, Doom is the latest edition to a classic series. Doom is well known for being a gory first-person arcade shooter where you take on demonic forces of hell.
In the latest edition of the series, you take over the role of a marine as he battles demons that have been unleashed by the Union Aerospace Corporation on a colonised Mars in the future.
2) Battlefield 1
Now, where do I start with this title? Before launch, Battlefield 1 built up a lot of hype as it promised to return to the roots of modern warfare by taking place during the first world war. For years, the two biggest first-person franchises had released only modern and futuristic games but finally, we were getting the game we had all dreamt of.
Upon release, Battlefield 1 lived up to its hype, providing a fun multiplayer shooter with large scale battles. The campaign managed to be interesting while also showing the grittiness and violence that soldiers would of experienced during those hard years in the trenches.
1) No Mans s……. Overwatch
Developed by Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch has been a popular team-based multiplayer first-person shooter since launch. In the game, players are put into two teams of six before they get to select a hero character to play as during the match. Each hero has unique attributes and abilities that the player can utilise to their advantage.
Overwatch is an entertaining competitive game that has defined the high standard for first-person multiplayer shooter games this year. Providing depth to develop your own tactics whilst staying easy to learn and hard to master, Overwatch definitely deserves to be the one and only Game of the Year.

I have never been a really big Zelda fan but maybe Breath of the Wild could get me into the franchise.

That wouldn’t surprise me at all if that was case not just for you Jacob, but for others who have never gotten into the Zelda series as well
