Rumours were circulating earlier this week that Final Fantasy XVI might be announced during Sony’s latest showcase. Not only die Sony announce it, but it was the opener of the show. Whilst no details have been released, one piece of interesting information we did receive was that the game will be a PS5 console exclusive. Whether this is a timed exclusive yet remains to be seen.
During the announcement, we got to see a little bit of gameplay including some combat. Keep in theme with the rest of the modern titles, the combat is live-action, similar to Final Fantasy XV. We also got a look at some of the story, which seems to be a much darker and medieval take on the Final Fantasy formula. With no release date, we can speculate that the game is likely a couple of years away from release, although early footage looks promising.
