Feral Interactive today announced that the classic real-time strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II and its standalone expansions Chaos Rising and Retribution will all be released for Mac and Linux on September 29th.

Developed by Relic Entertainment for Windows PC and set in Games Workshop’s grimdark fantasy universe, Dawn of War II is a compelling combination of RTS and RPG gameplay. Driven by an innovative campaign narrative steeped in the lore of Warhammer 40,000 armies, technologically advanced warriors wage brutal war against remorseless enemies in a series of addictively fast-paced and visceral combat missions.

It’s the 41st Millennium in the sub-sector Aurelia, a cluster of worlds on the edge of the Milky Way, where a battle of epic proportions is about to begin. As a newly promoted Force Commander of the Blood Ravens chapter, it is your privilege to lead crack squads of Space Marines into battle against the forces of Orks, Tyranids and Eldar that threaten the Imperium of Man.

Chaos Rising takes place one year after the events of Dawn of War II, and is set on Aurelia, long-lost home world of the Blood Ravens. Players once again take command of the Blood Ravens in order to free the planet from the forces of Chaos.

Retribution takes place ten years after Chaos Rising and presents a new threat to the Imperium of Man in which players may command any one of six races in a campaign that ranges across all the planets of sub-sector Aurelia.

In addition to their imaginative single-player campaigns, all three games feature highly-accomplished multiplayer in which players can either plunge into skirmish mode or team up with others in The Last Stand, a cooperative survival mode.

“We're delighted to be bringing such enduringly popular games to Mac and Linux,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive, “Their quality and appeal have more than stood the test of time and it’s a privilege to introduce them to a new audience.”
