David Braben has announced that there will be no offline single-player mode. There is a big fuzz about it.
“Galaxy, story, missions, have to match, and it does mean the single player has to connect to the server from time to time, but this has the added advantage that everyone can participate in the activities that can happen in the galaxy,” he said.
Is it really so bad that 394 mostly negative critics were said here?
We don't think so. Because one universe for all means that all players will be together and the MMO feature will not be just a choice but a reality. The space will be huge and lowering number of players by playing in their own instance simply is not fair for others. Can you imagine playing EVE "offline"? How? How can it be fun when only NPC and maths take place instead of players?
Decision not to allow single player experience is the best what could have been done. And everyone will accept it sooner or later, that's for sure.

Yeah, I fully agree with this. I was flying in single just to make trade and get some money. And online for pvp. And everyone can fly faaaaar away to play single mode. Universe will be HUUUUUUUGE 🙂
