After a long awaited time Dragon’s Dogma 2 has been announced. The sequel was announced during the 10th anniversary of the Dragon’s Dogma series. Most recently the series saw the release of an anime on Netflix. The anime generally well received, took some hits from reviewers for being to faithful to the game’s story. The original game came out on May 22nd, 2012. There was also a rerelease in the form of Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen which packaged all of the DLC and a new area into one game.
The 10th anniversary saw director Hideaki Itsuno go over the history of Dragon’s Dogma. The game inspired by role playing games and the freedom of fighting in Street Fighter 2, inspired him to find the unique take on Dragon’s Dogma. Announced at the end of the 10th anniversary by director Hideaki Itsuno was Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the game will be running on the impressive RE Engine which has been behind a lot of recent Capcom games. This see’s a resurgence in open world role playing games, as we also have quite a few others announced at Summer Game Fest coming soon.
This has shown a busy period for Capcom, announcing Street Fighter 6 and also the DLC for Resident Evil 8. Hopefully more info will come soon on Dragon’s Dogma 2.
