The controls have been overhauled to take advantage of the PSVR. Motion tracking for both the player’s hands and head has been implemented, allowing them to lean around corners and have 1:1 control in aiming their weapons. A new quick-turn ability has also been added, so players can easily reorient themselves. Additionally, there will also be a new wrist-mounted HUD and a gun-mounted flashlight. There will also be audiovisual upgrades, including new textures and shaders, as well as new sound effects.
Doom 3 originally launched in 2004 and was a departure for the series in that it focused on a slower-paced experience than the previous games. It leaned into a more claustrophobic horror atmosphere that other entries in the franchise steered away from. But this more intimate approach puts it in a good position to take advantage of the benefits of VR.
